The majority of duties performed by the Finance Analyst focus around researching and reporting on financial information, including analysis of the financial market as a whole. Duties may include:
- Gathering and analysing financial data
- Identifying market trends
- Developing financial forecasts
- Financial analysis
- Financial modelling
- Measuring financial risk
- Creating commercial plans in collaboration with the management team
Finance Analyst job qualifications, experience and skills
The skills of a Finance Analyst have increased in demand and whilst a degree isn’t strictly necessary for the role, a CIMA, ACA or ACCA qualification or part qualification is very attractive to employers.
A good Finance Analyst will also possess the following skills:
- An ability to interpret financial data
- Capability to conduct statistical analysis
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively and ‘tell a story’ with figures
- Natural interest and engagement in industry trends and news
